Community Spirit

COMMUNITY SPIRIT and MAKE-A-WISH NZ

The Community Spirit programme has been successfully meeting its core objectives for over 6 years within the framework of Instant Finance's "support in the community" strategy.

Those objectives are:

  • Support through financial donation, the local community based projects relevant to customers and staff throughout the operating regions of the Instant Finance branch network.

  • Assist wherever possible with larger charitable organisations, initiatives and emergencies that need financial assistance, personnel and expertise. These have included TYLA (Turn Your Life Around youth programmes), Samoan Tsunami Relief, Tongan Ferry disaster fund, Operation Blue Light (Police affiliated youth programmes), The Westpac Helicopter Trust and more.

  • Confirm Instant Finance as a responsible corporate citizen through commitment of funding and involvement of staff through relevant participation and commitment to community and National initiatives.

Historically we have donated $1000 grants to assist in local sports clubs, community projects, the arts, church led projects, individual grant requests and charities nominated by our customers.

Whilst this form of commitment will continue we will have decided to formalise a partnership with Make-A- Wish NZ to sponsor the wishes of children who are suffering from life threatening medical conditions.

This partnership will see Instant Finance commit financial support and the human resource to the granting of wishes throughout the country that have been requested through the Make-A-Wish organisation.

A "Wish Committee" has been set up within the Instant Finance organisation that includes representatives from Make-A-Wish, Instant Finance and Spawn Ltd to plan, facilitate and deliver wish requests around the country.

Our first wishes have involved staff at both our Glenfield and Kaikohe branches and have been as diverse as trips to Australia to see some koala bears and the installation of a special swing set and bouncy castle in Northland. The wishes are of course to help wonderful, brave children face their daily challenges with some special assistance and as much fun as possible.

It is important to us that staff are personally involved in the granting of these wishes wherever possible and that their commitment is part of the gifting of the wish.
